About the artist Jessie Alon, a primarily self taught artist, studied art education and design in college. In 2002 she began working as a jeweler for a well known glassblower. Four years later Jessie opened her own jewelry business, Fiddlehead Studio.
With a love for design and creating, in 2004 Jessie and and her husband Michael began designing and building their home. With an eclectic sense of style, Jessie and Michael incorporated many old world techniques into their home. In the building process, Jessie became interested in architectural designs and concepts. During this time, Jessie became fascinated with the 15th century Italian technique of Terrazzo. She began researching and experimenting on ways to incorporate this into her jewelry line. Jessie dedicating a year to refining a technique enabling her to use terrazzo successfully on a small scale. The result is a line of jewelry with timeless style.
Located in the heart of the Green Mountains, Fiddlehead Studio is surrounded by inspiration. Working primarily in Sterling silver, her color palette is derived from the natural settings around her. The uniqueness of nature is an attribute that can be seen in her jewelry. Each Terrazzo centerpiece is cast using a mixture of reclaimed marble and recycled glass. Additional color and texture are added by layering natural elements such as river rock and semi-precious stones. During the polishing process, as the marble and glass are being exposed, the centerpiece comes alive. A matrix of color and texture reveal a feeling that reflects Jessie’s own spirit.
